Haiti is Resilient! During the horrific earthquake of 2010, the “Send Hope to Haiti” project was lunged that consisted of in kind donations needed during natural disasters such as water, hygiene items, inspirational gifts, and toiletries to sustain those affected directly and indirectly by crisis. Supporters also left personal messages for the children at Caleb Christian Academy in Port-de-Paix. The children had family members that were killed and displaced by the earthquake. Needless to say, these were hard times for the children and their families. The cost to bury family members was often too much for families, and they ended up with great debts. The aftershocks scared the people, who were unsure if they would be the next to be killed. Imagine seeing Washington D.C. or your city destroyed - that is how painful it was, especially to a people who had all their hopes and dreams on gaining an education and uplifting their country. Even our adult friends in Haiti were mourning and crying every day, wondering what's next. We wanted to send words of encouragement to our community to let them know that we care, God cares, and they will recover from this. Your words will be shared with the community through a translator.
